Команды столицы - победители первенства республики по баскетболу
Победой первых команд столицы закончилось первенство республики по баскетболу среди юношей и девушек 1996-97 г.р., которые будут представлять республику на предстоящих V Международных спортивных играх «Дети Азии».
Среди юношей первенство оспаривали всего шесть команд, в том числе две из Якутска. Как и ожидалось, борьбу за первое место вели первая команда столицы (тренер Владимир Жмаев) и г. Нерюнгри (тренер Степан Григоращук).
В решающем матче между ними юноши столицы лидировали в течении всех четырех периодов с разницей 6-8 очков и одержали победу со счетом 71:64.
Третье место заняла вторая команда Якутска, составленная из младших юношей (тренер Константин Эйзнер), в решающих матчах выигравший у команды Алдана 56:48 и Ленска 59:49, занявших соответственно четвертые и пятые места. Замкнули турнирную таблицу юноши из Вилюйска, у которых уровень игры пока оставляет желать лучшего.
Среди девушек участвовали всего три команды - две из Якутска и одна из Хандыги. Два первые места заняли команды столицы. Девушки из Хандыги уступили команде победительнице Якутск-1 только во второй дополнительной пятиминутке.
Имея прекрасных тренеров как Константин Эйзнер (Якутск), Степан Григоращук (Нерюнгри), Владимир Жмаев (Якутск), сборная команда республики среди юношей не раз стал победителем Игр «Дети Азии» и первенства Дальнего Востока. Работа федерации баскетбола республики, отвечающей развитию вида и координации спортивной деятельности, к сожалению, оставляет желать лучшего, свидетельство тому количество команд участников данного первенства и провал в прошлом году на пятой летней спартакиаде учащихся России из-за несвоевременной подготовки сборной команды республики.
